gingerbread houses – sweet decorations

They are very tasty and look beautifuly. They can also make magical Christmas atmosphere. What’s more –  are not even difficult to do. Here’s a small “tutorial” of preparing the gingerbread cookies.

Gingerbread recipe:

Frosting:

decoration: sweet sprinkles, chocolate stars, etc.

Firts: Sift flour, soda and baking powder into a large bowl. Put aside. Mix butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until the mass is fluffy. Then mix together spices, salt, eggs and molasses. At lower mixing speeds, add the flour mixture in three portions and stir until it merges. Roll the dough in the shape of a ball, cover with foil and leave it in the fridge for the whole night (or freezer for about 1 hour).

In the meanwhile, on stiff paper, draw the house’s templates (front, wall, roof) and cut them. When the dough is cooled, place it on a table topped with sugar and roll out to a thickness of 4 mm. Preheat oven to 175 ° C.

Cut the shapes with a knife – we need two pieces of each shape for one house (2 parts of the front, two parts of the walls and two parts of the roof). You can use a (well-cleaned) flat-blade screwdriver to more accurately cut windows or doors.

Bake for about 8-10 minutes. Prepare the icing (beat egg whites with lemon juice, add sugar and beat slowly). You can pre-prepare the icing and cool for a few days in the refrigerator. Parts of houses combine with the icing (it’s like glue). Then use it to decorate the roof, walls etc. You can use powdered sugar as a snow. Finished! Bon Appetit 🙂
